Showcasing REUNION's Commitment to Enhance Cross-Border Legal Cooperation at the 2023 EUROPRIS Expert Group Meeting

Objective
On the 25th of September 2023, the REUNION project was presented in the EuroPris Expert Group Meeting on Framework Decision 2008/909.

This annual event aims to provide an exchange of knowledge and information between practitioners relating to the FD 2008/909 on the application of the principle of mutual recognition to judgments in criminal matters imposing custodial sentences or measures involving deprivation of liberty for the purpose of their enforcement in the European Union.

During this meeting, experts from several countries of the EU were able to learn about the goals of the project, being the main one to better assist judges, lawyers, prison staff and other justice professionals when working on the cross-border execution of judgements involving the deprivation of liberty. The scheduled activities and deliverables for 2023 and 2024 were also presented.

By pursuing this goal, REUNION intends to foster mutual cooperation and trust between EU Member States’ justice professionals to enhance the application of Framework Decision 2008/909, therefore, promoting social rehabilitation and successful reintegration of sentenced persons
